Jonathan Aguilar Cerritos College English 103 Post #3

The Allegory of the Cave by Plato was about Sacartes speaking to Glaucon and giving him an image of what it's like to be a philosopher. Sacartes relates a philosopher to a prisoner in captivity who is later relased. He describes how in different habitats we stray from reality. While in captivity a prisoner feels like a chained puppet. Not being able to talk to or relate to those around them. Only able to see the shadows and hear the echoes of others. When the prisoner is relased he is introduced to a new world. In this new world he is required to grow accustomed to his surroundings. He must have his eye fixed on his ultimate goal in life. Prisoner and philosopher alike must expand their knowledge in order to fit in with the world around them.
